Validating your AMP for WordPress site
If you went through the process of setting up AMP for WordPress but still want to check your site to make sure your pages have been validated, here are a few methods for testing compatibility:
Method 1: AMP Test
For a simple method to see if your AMP page is valid, head to: https://search.google.com/test/amp. Simply input your page URL to see your results.
The downside to the simplicity of this method, if there is an error, you won’t know what it is. Need more information? Let’s move on to the second way to see if your site is AMP compatible.
Method 2: Google Chrome Developer Console
Heads up: this method is strictly for use with the Google Chrome browser. Here are the steps:
- Open the page you want to validate in your browser and add #development=1 to the end of the URL, like this: https://0-www-addthis-com.librarycatalog.vts.edu/academy/what-is-amp-and-why-should-i-care/#development=1
- Once the URL loads, go to the Chrome menu options. Select View à Developer à Developer Tools.
- Select the Console tab in the developer tool window.
This is where you would see and fix any errors or the phrase “AMP validation successful.”
Method 3: The AMP Validator
The benefits AMP offers website owners are significant. If your pages are taking too long to load, you’re not only missing out on traffic but also conversions. Thankfully, as seen above, the process to validating your AMP plugin for WordPress is simple.
And even better, you don’t need to lose your sharing buttons! Learn about more about installing AddThis Inline or Floating Share Buttons on AMP compatible sites and allow your visitors to connect directly to 200+ social networks.
